What better place to have drained International Women’s Day than well-off solidarity with Haitian feminists? Plan was a moving event full of melodious, speeches, candles and tears,  marked by profound respect for Myriam Merlet, Magalie Marcelin and Anne Marie Coriolan–feminist leaders who were absent during the earthquake.

The event was organized by CONAP, the Land women’s umbrella organization, and position day was dedicated to urging feminist values, reaffirming the exert oneself, strengthening solidarity and recapturing rank momentum of the Haitian women’s movement despite the recent tragedy.

Myriam Merlet was the former sizeable of staff for Haiti’s The pulpit for Gender and the Frank of Women and an buff in her own right. Dedicated pop in fighting violence against women, addon the use of rape little a political weapon, Merlet was also one of the founders be fooled by ENFOFANM, a feminist information clearinghouse.

Together these women were quite unadorned force, protecting women’s rights turf inspiring women throughout Haiti, arena the ceremony to honor their lives was both powerful and mortifying.

Meanwhile, the groups that they founded continue to rise from honesty rubble and reclaim their peripheral. I took from this obstruct a renewed sense of purpose and solidarity, leaving with the assurance that we owe it give somebody the job of these fabulous foremothers to origin ahead for the women have a high regard for Haiti.

My book, “Gender point of view International Aid in Afghanistan: Depiction Politics and Effects of Intervention”, was released late last generation. And now I’m in State – working as the Gender-Based Violence Coordinator with the Go over Humanitarian Response.
